Keeping fall protection as a priority, we had fall protection training to help our superintendents and project managers better understand the fall protection requirements for construction.
A new seventy-six (76) unit, four (4) story, 128,225 GSF senior apartment building with two enclosed parking garages.
Our utility subcontractor started to work on the Northern storm drain line, framers are working on roof sheathing in and dormer framing in Area A. Concrete crews are pouring a section of slab in Area B and working on the rest of the parking garage curb in Area A. Electricians are setting boxes on 2nd and 3rd floors while plumbers rough-in on 2nd and 3rd floors.

There are three (3) separate components to this development:
94th Ave. N Street & Utility Expansion - Installation of approximately 1,100 LF of new road construction. Work to include sidewalks and bituminous trail. Utility work to include water main, sanitary and storm sewer extensions.
Currently the balance of perimeter strip footings were poured and wall panels are being set; we will be pouring them in the following weeks. Utilities have had a good start, sanitary sewer and water main are in the road. We've started the cut for the deep sanitary sewer line at the SE corner along 93rd ave.
Urbana Place Senior Living - New construction of 100 unit assisted living facility on a partial slab on grade foundation with 24,000 SF of underground parking. Finished area is 123,241 SF wood framed four story.
We are excited to announce the ground breaking for Urbana Place Senior Living will take place September 27th, 2018.
Construction update for Urbana Place; prep and install of thin brick and stone on west side, south of canopy. Finish carpenters are working on base on 4th floor in the corridor, trim in common area around windows and 1st floor they’re unboxing cabinets. The siders are installing Nichiha, fascia and trim boards on the west side of the building. Flooring subcontractor is grouting common area rooms on 1st floor and installing vinyl in units on 1st, elevator lobby on 2nd and carpeting units on 2nd and 3rd while the ceiling crew works on padding out 3rd and 2nd floor ceilings. Plumbers are setting fixtures on 2nd and HVAC crew is working on furnace rooms on 2nd and 1st and installing fresh air louver in garage.
Urbana Court Apartments - 314,782 SF three story wood framed 207-unit apartment over a 77,864 SF underground parking structure.
Lake Jonathan Flats Apartments in Chaska, MN is a new four (4) story, 117 unit, with two levels of below grade parking, a detached slab-on-grade commercial building, and associated paved parking lots and drive lanes, retaining walls, and below grade utilities. The below- and at-grade levels will include concrete masonry unit (CMU), cast-in-place concrete and/or precast concrete walls and columns with wood framing above. The commercial building will be one story slab-on-grade light-gauge steel framing.
We are excited to announce that we broke ground for Lake Jonathan Flats Apartments February, 2018.
Overall the project is starting to come together. All the sidewalks across the front of the building as well as the steps to the trail on the very south have been completed and poured. Some of the black dirt has been spread throughout the front of the building and all curb and gutter is in place along with the first left of asphalt. Painting across the back of the building facing Lake Jonathan is complete as well as all the brick in this area. All that remains for Brick is on the very north side at the entrance to the garages. All mechanical trades will begin final Inspections next week. The city has been out several times to complete some pre-inspections and at this time all is going well. Balconies have begun being installed in the front and depending on weather will continue on the backside.

Currently the utility company is working on grout work for all installed structures, piped storm to NW corner of building, installed 6’ of storm running south, but stopped before sanitary crossing. Surveyors are staking the storm sewer and the testing company has conducted density tests on back-fill of storm sewer on NW side of property.
A new two story 74,172 S.F. assisted living facility with a 10-stall attached parking garage at grade.
Currently the framers are setting trusses in areas A and B, stood walls in area A and ran the LVL’s down the corridor in area C.
A new eighty-eight (88) unit, three (3) story, 87,239 GSF market rate apartment with an underground parking garage.

Amenities include fitness center, business center, community room, among others.
Currently the framers are setting corridor and 3rd floor trusses and the asphalt subcontractor has installed the wear course on the south side.

Eden Prairie, MN. 1 February 2019 – On January 24, 2019, the Minnesota/North Dakota Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) honored recently completed member projects at the 2018 Excellence In Construction Banquet at The Metropolitan in Minneapolis, MN.
Lyon Contracting, Inc., St. Cloud, MN received a top award from the Minnesota/North Dakota Associated Builders and Contractors for its Remington Cove Apartments & Yorkshire of Edina Senior Living in the Multi-Family Projects and Condos Over $5 Million & Healthcare Over $5 Million.
ABC's awards program is designed to publicly recognize the quality and innovation of merit shop construction and to honor all the members of the construction team, including the contractor, the owner and the design team responsible for the project. The winning projects were selected from entries submitted across the state and were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unusual challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety, and budget.
Lyon Contracting, Inc. was the general contractor on the design-build team that built this creative and contemporary municipal project. The project entailed proper scheduling of materials and sequencing of subcontracting work. In the end, this project was both functional and aesthetically appealing. Lyon Contracting, Inc. completed the project on time and on budget.
